Now that the app is connected to your Scout Bot, you can start filming and saving highlights!

Introduction to the App

Left side:

  • Battery life - tap the battery icon to display the battery life of your phone and Scout Bot.
  • Framerate -  select between 30 and 60 FPS.
  • Video quality - select between HD (1080p) and 4K.  Note: iOS15 only allows 4K 30 FPS, iOS16 allows 4K 30 & 60 FPS.
  • Choose zoom speed - select auto zoom speed or a custom zoom speed from 1 - 10.  Auto zoom calculates the distance between 2 presets and zooms in/out at a proportional speed.  Custom allows you to set your zoom speed from slow (1) to fast (10).  In most cases, auto zoom will work best.

Top center:

  • Choose your Mode - select a mode by tapping Mode on the screen or by using the mode (M) button on the Scout Remote.
    • You can choose between Manual and Assist modes.
    • Both modes allow for remote highlights.
  • Manual Mode - allows you to pan and zoom as long or short as you want.  This mode is best if you want to manually follow something or if you are shooting a stationary shot like the end-line of a tennis match or a wide-angle shot of an entire playing surface like volleyball.
  • Assist Mode - allows you to pre-program 2 to 5 locations or presets on the field/court.  You can program pan only presets, zoom only presets, or both pan and zoom presets.
    • Tap Presets at the top center of the app to select how many presets you want to set up.  You can choose as few as 2 and as many as 5 presets.
    • Now you need to edit or program the presets by getting into edit mode by double tapping the mode (M x 2) button on the remote or by pressing the drop down arrow below the presets.
    • Once in Edit Presets you can pan and/or zoom the Scout Bot to the positions on the field/court you would like to save as presets.
    • It is best to save presets from left to right.  For basketball, preset 1 would be the left side of the court and preset 2 would be the right side of the court.  To save presets, move to the location you want and press the save (+) button on the remote or tap the Save button on the phone under the presets.
    • Save all the presets you have selected, then close out of Edit Presets by double tapping the mode (M x 2) button on the remote or by pressing the up arrow below the presets.
    • Now you can move to each preset by pressing the left (<) and right (>)arrows of the Scout Remote.  The Scout Bot will move to the saved positions each time you select a preset.
    • You will see which preset you are on by looking at the preset animation across the top of the screen.

Right side:

  • Settings - choose your settings.
  • Save highlights - tap the highlight icon on the screen above the record button.  This allows you to save highlights if you forgot your remote.  To change the highlight clip duration, long-press the highlight icon and select the duration you want.
  • Start/stop recording - start a recording so you can save highlights and stop the video when you are done.  Note: you can't save highlights until you start a recording and can't stop recording from the Scout Remote to prevent accidental stoppages without the user's knowledge.
  • Record time - see how long your have been recording.

Bottom left:

  • Remote layouts - see what each button on the remote does for the mode you are currently on.  Great resource when starting out.
