Quick Guide

  1. MUST WATCH  Basketball set up guide using Assist Mode.
  2. Use a tripod to stabilize the Scout Bot and sit as close to mid-court as you can.  Ideally, you want to have a shot at least 5 ft. above the court.
  3. Use a Bluetooth headset like Apple AirPods.
  4. Set up presets by looking through your phone screen. We recommend using 2 preset for basketball, see image below.
  5. Make sure you zoom in at each basket to get the shot you want.
  6. Don't forget to hit record, hit the (=) button on the remote to record or on your phone.
  7. Change the speed of the pan if you think it is too slow/fast by pressing the (<<) button on the remote to reduce the speed and the (>>) button to increase the speed.
  8. Hit the (+) to save highlights as they happen.
  9. Stop recording when the game is done and select Yes. Leave the Scout app open and wait for all your highlights and long video to process to your Files app  in 10-20 seconds.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to stop your recording, if you just swipe away the app or kill the app we cannot guarantee all your videos will be saved.

Here are some samples of 2 Presets used to film basketball.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Use Assist Mode to record basketball.  Tap Mode at the top of the screen or press the (M) button on the remote to switch between modes.
  2. You can buy a good tripod here.  Be sure your tripod has a 1/4-20" camera thread at the top.
  3. Use a Bluetooth headset like Apple AirPods.  This will allow you to hear where the camera is pointed as you move between presets.  For example if you move from 1 (left basket) to 2 (right basket) "2" and you will know where the camera is pointed without needing to see your phone screen or look at the camera.  You will also hear when a highlight is saved, when you are recording, what pan speed you changed it to, and if you are running low on battery for the Scout Bot or your Phone.
  4. Tap Presets on the screen to change the number of presets between 2-5, we recommend 2 presets for basketball.  Tap the down arrow to open Edit Presets or double tap the (M) button on the remote.  Look through your phone and set up presets from left to right.  To save a preset, tap save on your phone or press the (+) button on the remote.
  5. Set up the presets as shown below.  Utilize the zoom of your phone to get the shot you want, you can zoom with the up and down buttons on the remote.
  6. Don't forget to hit record, hit the (=) button on the remote to record or tap your the record button on your phone.  You cannot stop the recording from the remote, so do not worry about accidently doing that.
  7. Change the speed of the pan if you think it is too slow/fast by pressing the (<<) button to reduce the speed and the (>>) button to increase the speed.  Watch the phone for a few minutes as you film the game to make sure it is moving fast enough to keep up with play.
  8. Hit the (+) to save highlights as they happen.  You can change the highlight length in the settings to 10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 secs.
  9. Drop down the tripod and select the stop recording button to stop the video and select Yes. You can only stop a recording from the phone screen with your finger.  Wait for all your highlights and long video to process to your Files app.  If you had 10 highlights, the message will say Processing 1 of 11, because you also have the long video too for a total of 11 videos.
